"The name Lane has no direct biblical meaning as a given name, but its biblical significance comes from its use as a word for a narrow path or alley, famously appearing in the parable of the great banquet in Luke 14:21, where Jesus tells his followers to go out into the "streets and lanes of the city".
Symbolically, "lane" represents the journey of life or a spiritual path, often contrasted with the "broad road" to destruction, highlighting the narrow, difficult but righteous path of godly living."
"The Lanes are a collection of narrow lanes in the city of Brighton and Hove, famous for their small shops (including several antique shops) and narrow alleyways."
As my Maiden Name is Lanes I started researching it's meaning and came upon the two above references. I find both to be very telling for me.
I have always loved antiques, and flea markets, walking through alleys and lanes at sales, along with a very strong empathic calling towards a spiritual longing and understanding of why I am here.
In addition, after my parents moved on, I began the process of paying
more attention to a few items left to me. Once I began this observation
I saw a pattern that my parents had many pieces of artwork that where
of roads, alleys, pathways, streets, ocean lanes, garden paths. In
other words all "LANES". Was this intentional or coincidence?
Knowing my parents as little as I did, I can only guess it was coincidence, but I
want to believe it might have been intentional.
It may seem superficial to be writing about a meaning to a last name,
however in the spiritual sense of things it is an honor to their memory.
I feel the presence of my family name. I look inward to answers daily
as I remember who I am as that which was before choosing the
family and the name; coming into this world.
Being born into a human form is not easy, but with patience, care and
love; along with these gentle reminders that come to us in our own
unique personal terms, it can be easy and allow a rest into our
spirit of recognition and reasons as to why we are here.
I love being LANES even though I am known as Reverend Dove.
I have become Officially: Cathryn Ariel Lanes Mary Dove, or
CALMD the initials of the birth and spiritual names combined.
I am truly Calmed and I love the visuals around me in artwork and in
nature of all the Lanes I travel and move through to receive insight,
love and awareness especially that surprise me and keep me
feeling grateful and appreciative of this very fleeting life on its' journey
through the Lanes.
Looking forward to establishing "ONCE UPON A LANES GALLERY" an homage to my heritage and upbringing.
